The shift in learning culture towards a self-service model is real - but the likelihood that it supports common organizational goals is low
We realize that the vast majority of information needed is readily available - much of it for free - through the internet. And we're big users of You Tube, Wikipedia, and TED Talks ourselves. But while these sources are good for the individual consumer, the reality is that they tend to result in a big missed opportunity for employers.
How many organizations actually have line of sight to how much 'hidden' instruction is happening this way? Does your LMS actually give you insight into what employees are most interested in learning about? Chances are, no.
