Valerie Nichols - Executive Consultant

Valerie Nichols is an Executive Consultant with Hemsley Fraser Group, Inc. As Executive Consultant, she is Hemsley Fraser’s senior project management representative to client engagements, while also helping to guide our internal capability and new content development initiatives.

Valerie has over 35 years of experience in human resource management and is recognized as a leader and innovator in her field. Her primary areas of expertise are organizational development, employment matters, labor relations, and training. She was recruited to develop initial HR policies and programs for the United States Department of Energy upon its inception and to design new HR policies for the Federal Aviation Administration, including a broad-banded market-based compensation system.

Later in her career, as Director of Human Resources of the United States Mint, she moved the Mint from a confrontational labor-management environment to government-wide recognition as an “…outstanding and innovative partnership that resulted in better and less-costly service to the American public”. In her last position, she was instrumental in developing the Department of Homeland Security’s first Human Capital Strategic Plan and provided extensive support to the development of the Department’s Workforce Plan and Succession Plan.

Valerie has been invited to present papers before the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and other professional organizations. She is a certified mediator and has developed and taught courses for adults, including courses in the Strategic Management of Human Resources, Competencies, Interest-Based Bargaining, Mediation, Reduction in Force, Job Analysis, Business Process Reengineering; Effective PowerPoint Presentations, and others.
